About UsWe are Gene & Linda Barlow, owners of User Group Relations. Our consulting firm specializes in representing computer software companies to the user group community. This marketing approach gains product and name recognition among influential end users, thus making these products better known and referred to other end users. This grass-roots marketing approach is inexpensive and effective. As a team, we have years of experience in this field. We have worked with PC user groups for over 45 years and are perhaps the best-known software representatives in the user group community. We understand this marketplace extremely well and have thousands of user group friends and acquaintances.
After graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Mathematics and Physics, Gene started to work for the IBM Corporation. The first 20 years of his career with IBM, he worked with mainframe computer software products in various technical and management positions. When the IBM PC was introduced in the early 80's, Gene was asked to manage the User Group Support organization that helped hundreds of PC user groups get started and grow. His early involvement in the growth of the user group community has earned him the name of Father of PC User Groups. He worked with user groups for the last 14 years of his IBM career to see this community grow in members and influence in the industry. After he retired from IBM, he set up his own consulting firm to continue to work with user groups. He continues to be an active part of the user group community to this day. Linda is Gene's wife and partner in their consulting firm. She also attended Brigham Young University before they were married and started a family. Linda worked for many retail, banking, and insurance companies as well as raising their four children. She is very skilled in financial and office processing functions and brings her talent to their firm. She started to work with Gene when they formed User Group Relations and is well known in the user group community today. Together, Gene & Linda present to dozens of user groups each year, instructing user group members on various technical topics and showing off the excellent products they represent. Our company is small enough to give you personal service in your product selection and we hope we can serve your needs well. |
